Apple Watch is a smartwatch, it contains all those features which we  think that an ordinary watch should have. Tim Cook announced about it on 9th September 2014, the most awaited wearable technology.

It is scheduled to be available in three models -

  • The Apple Watch (made of stainless steel)
  • The Apple Watch Sport (made of aluminium)
  • The Apple Watch Edition (made of 18-carat gold, no less)
All these three models will be available in two different sizes along with the huge collection of different, easy to connect straps.

Apple Watch will act as a companion device specific to Apple products. Like iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus all will connect via Bluetooth 4.0 (there's Wi-Fi on board too).

It has got the supremely tough and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass screen. Feature of "Force Touch" is there,  it's almost like the right button of the mouse and will be used to quickly access certain functions, depending upon the context.

The watch has a "Digital Crown" through which you can easily zoom in and zoom out of the screen, or press it down to quickly access Siri.

It has "Taptics" , whenever the Apple Watch gets a notification, it will vibrate to alert you. You can then easily raise your wrist to turn on the screen and view the notification. It will actually saves the battery life.

We can use this device as a walkie talkie to chat with the nearby watch wearers. We can send drawings(made by us on the screen) to the watch owing friends , something unusual also, a "recording" of heartbeat.

It contains accelerometer inside and a heartbeat monitor on the back of the watch, and it'll draw GPS data from the iPhone. All these features actually makes it to work like a Fitness Tracker. Tim Cook says it's designed to work as an all day tracker with two apps "Fitness and Workout".  We are able to track distance, calories burned and the duration of our workout.

The Watch is waterproof but the most important part is the battery life of the device, Apple didn't mention about it, which shows that the company is still working on it for its improvement.

Apple says the Watch will be on sale from early next year starting at US $349. UK pricing yet to be decided.
