Samsung launched The Tizen powered TVs in Home Market

What is Tizen OS?? It is an operating system based on the Linux kernel and the GNU C Library implementing the Linux API. It is a project within the Linux Foundation and is governed by a Technical Steering Group composed of Samsung and Intel among others.

Recently, The South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics has started the domestic sales of high end televisions powered by its Tizen operating system. It has also decided to add washing machines, fridges and other appliances to the range of products that use the software.

The new ultra-HD TVs come in four sizes from 55 inches diagonally to 88 inches. The smallest model costs 5.49 million won ($5000).

At present Samsung is planning to push the Tizen OS into living rooms and into kitchens and into other corners of rooms.

The head of Samsung's TV business said, "This year their all internet-connected TV's will be powered by Tizen OS as well as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and robotic vacuum cleaners."

 The company told in press conference that the users of Samsung Galaxy mobile devices can stream content from their phones to the television with one tap on screen. It will also increase the number of games, videos and movie offerings.

There were no details given by the company on launch plans in overseas markets.
