Google's Project Fi Versus Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint

Google's Project Fi

Google is now entering to the mobile industry as a service providèr. It has announced "Project Fi" a MVNO wireless service for the Nexus 6. Now users will have another option to opt for other than the big 4 - Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile & Sprint. Google has moved into a market with new technology and new price, hope in coming time users are able to get better internet.

Project Fi

Project Fi is like any other wireless service, its plans are cheaper than the other carrier. One plan at one price. For $20 you will get voice, text, Wi-Fi tethering and International coverage in more than 120 countries. Other than this $10 per GB of data, which means total bill would be $50 a month. The good thing is that you don't pay for the data you don't use. If you are paying $30 for 3GB of data and use only 2.4GB of data, then you will get $6 off on your next bill. There is no harsh penalty for using more data when you need it.

Some limitations are there with Project Fi, no such family plan is there, you can't share your data with family n friends. Every person should have an individual Fi plan. This project only supports Nexus 6, so no iPhone and Samsung. Google phablet starts at $649, but it won't be able to compete with the new Android Flagships.

Comparison Between Carrier Companies

If we talk about Verizon than its cheapest plan gives you 1GB package with unlimited voice and unlimited text priced at $60 per month. If you will buy a smartphone then you can enter into $45 monthly Edge installment plan. The plan also has international messaging, 25GB of cloud storage, personal hotspot, shareable data and the NFL mobile app. Verizon gives you the option to choose from dozens for flagship and affordable smartphones. Unused data scheme is not there like the project fi.

AT&T provides 1GB plan priced at $65 per month. This price will drops to $50 if you are a regular customer or if you have purchase a device through AT&T next. Other ones are 3GB is $80 ($65), 4GB rates $110 ($95). Facility of rollover data is provided by the AT&T if you are on AT&T Mobile Share Data Plans. Your unused data will be carry forward from current month over to the next but that data should be used before the second billing period is over. Project Fi don't preserve your unused data from one month to the next. It will credit amount of unused data to the following month's bill.

AT&T will charge penalties on over usage which is not roll over. If you are using 1GB plan then $20 per 500MB, $15 per 1GB for all other plans. Company gives you unlimited texting from the US to anywhere in the world as part of Mobile Share Value Plans. Company's Prepaid plans do not offer rollover data.

Other carriers like Sprint, a Project Fi partner offers a single line which will cost $60 per month and comes with unlimited talk, text and data. Mobile hotspot functionality is not provided by Sprint. Carrier support Wi-Fi calling, you can choose from many smartphones. As per market Sprint network is inferior to its competitors.

T-Mobile is also a Project Fi partner, it provides plans with unlimited data for $80 per month. It's other plans are like 1GB of high-speed data, unlimited talk and text is $50 per month. 3GB of data is $60, 5GB is $70 you will find the rate same charged by Google. T-Mobile do not charge overage fees. It's regular simple choice plans include Wi-Fi calling and uncarrier features. Coverage is in 120 countries which Google says it will extend its coverage to that.

Project Fi does not provide perks like T-Mobile used to offer to its customers, even you can't purchase an unlimited plan through Project Fi. T-Mobile is the only carrier whose prices match up with Google's at certain levels. It allows the customers to choose from many smartphones. Its network is strong in major cities but weak in suburban and rural areas.

Google has partnered with T-Mobile and Sprint for it's Project Fi and ready to compete with the wireless service providers mmentioned above. After seeing the plans and their costs its clear that Google is much more affordable than the other networks and this will create a big competition in the market and users will get good signals at less price.

The big fact is that for availing the affordable service you have to use Nexus 6 by ditching your iPhone, Galaxy or any other smartphone. The Nexus 6 is priced starting from $649, not so much affordable. Other carriers are offering customized plans so getting a new smartphone is not a good option. People will like Project Fi only if it becomes available to more devices otherwise it will have very niche market.
